It very well could be a male Aurantia? Though I have not seen a male that large, all of the females I have encountered had very bulbous abdomen, instead of the elongated one you see here. I very well could be mistaken. The two species are so similar in size and markings. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6993163
I understood that bruennichi are distributed throughout central Europe, Northern Europe, north Africa and parts of Asia. The 'spotting' was in Montana.
it could be either bruennichi, or the aurantia, although I am leaning more toward the Bruennichi due to the elongated abdomen. the aurantia seem to have more wide and robust abdomen.
I observed one earlier this week and posted today as well. :) http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7409724
