There is one just like this in my back yard in Houston.

Thanks Carol. They really are cute. Sadly, for some reason, we don't see too many around our yard anymore. They used to be everywhere. Might be because of that Cuban Tree frog I spotted a while back. The anole, in this spotting, was quite a find. I've never seen one with such a large ridge before - or since.

Actually, they were a Cream Colorish Lt. Brown, with the delicate faint white spots. I am so happy to know that I actually saw this lovely new creature in our own yard. I feel like a Spotter now <3. I am on Facebook.

I just told my sister yesterday that there were two new lizard types I saw in the front yard. They had the ridges ,were a little browner with faint white spots. They walked slower than the other big lizards and seemed to sort of walk/dance slowly around each other. Today,I saw them wrapped around each other. At first I thought it was one Lizard and then the 2nd one appeared.I live in Bradenton Florida. They seemed curious about me too ;)

Ctsetan, I see what you mean about the coloring. I didn't notice that before. It was the same lizard though. Glad you found that photo of another brown anole with the dragon ridge on the back. I couldn't find one that looked like that, with that large of a ridge, when I was searching for info. Thanks!

Great.... this one is an amazing lizard... here in india, Sitana ponticeriana (fan-throated lizard) does the same guller displays for territorial disputes and for attracting females.

they do that when they get aggressive and fight other males its the same anole i believe or a bark anole maybe

Not sure. This one is not like most of ours too but on Wikipedia, at the bottom of the page, was a photo of one with a ridge. Not as large of a ridge but it did have one. I would love to know what it is.

My anoles do not have a dragon ridge on their back, are we sure this is an ordinary anole?
