Description:

The great masterwort is a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to central and eastern Europe. It shows single umbel inflorescences, with imposing long umbel bracts. The small flowers are greenish-white. The central ones are hermaphrodite, the external ones are male. The size of the each flowers is about 1 mm!

Habitat:

Forest path, wet area, alt. 1700m.

Notes:

This plant differs from its congener Astrantia minor, by its larger size, and basal leaves of 5 segments (instead of 7; see 3rd shot).
The natural habitats for the great masterwort include wet meadows.
