Field Notes

Description:

Brown and yellow insect that secretes a foam resembling spit on plants. The adult female can be seen at my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/23080205 and the adult male at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/23968021

Habitat:

Unknown yellow flowering plant in chaparral area along trail.

Notes:

Apparently the spit has several purposes. It hides the nymph, helps regulate temperature, keeps it moist and also deters predators. Aka Spittle Bug
