Field Notes

Description:

Very small reddish brown snake. It had a white belly, red eyes, and the head was a bit darker brown than the body. It was a fast burrower, and we watched it push up the the decaying wood and dirt as it burrowed down into it

Habitat:

Under decaying logs in a wooded area

Almost impossible to get good head shots of burrowing snakes. Looking at the second reference, that isn't the type head I was expecting at all on a burrowing snakes. Nice catch Machi. One has to be quick with the camera to catch them at all.
