Salvia

It's hard for me to tell from the picture but the leaves appeared to be smooth rather than ridged like in S.elegans...also S.miniata is a rather large plant and your photo appears large. You have seen the plant in situ, however. But one way or another, you know at least, that it's a Salvia.

No apology necessary @asergio. I said it *resembles* lobelia, not that it was a lobelia. I was merely offering you a place to start looking for lineage of ID. Good luck finding an ID! Be sure to let us know when you figure out what it is.
