yeah, well beauty is in the eye's of the beholder and i'm not holding onto some macho 'Western' Cottonmouth Sheeeesh ... We only have the Prairie Rattlesnake in Southcentral Montana ~ this is a Big Area of Big Sky country. i've always wondered how the Civil War soldiers managed with all those Fanged snakes. In Viet Nam i caught a baby Banana Viper as it slid over me! i wasn't sure what it was but it didn't take long to see and give it a toss away from the squad, pretty green and pretty deadly.

William...lol...you have plenty of rattlesnake species! It is called the western cottonmouth because it is the subspecies found on the westernmost portion of the cottonmouth range. KarenL, thanks...they are beautiful animals!

somehow i don't think i'll get attached to this Excellent Pic... Thankfully there are No Western Cottonmouths in the West.
