Description:
A riot of colours. Mossy green, bright blue, brilliant red, a touch of black...you name it and the colour is there! Shy and wary bird.
Habitat:
Kayaler bagan or Kayal's garden is now a bird sanctuary in the heart of Kolkata city. Although called a garden, it is not a landscaped area with garden varieties...rather everything growing wild is preserved.So old epi-phyte laden trees rub branches with bamboo groves and wild vines trail all over. So called weeds flourish. It is also called Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary. Lots of mosquitoes that make standing still difficult!
Notes:
Never have I come so close to this bird. There was a pair feasting on some berries and this is one of the couple. They have a nice call.
