I highly highly highly highly recommend it!!! Once you get started with them, you won't mind the drive! (Mine's about 45 mins too). It's so amazing being near these powerful birds! Really gives a sense of accomplishment! Good luck with it!
It is sad, but it's always amazing how many people have never seen an eagle up close, so it's wonderful that they can teach the public. I am a volunteer at a Birds of Prey rehabilitation center here in Colorado...I help with handling the birds, but I don't have the strength (or stamina, or courage!) to handle our Bald Eagle! I love seeing people's faces when we take him places! ;-)

Thanks so much ChristyHolland for the mission links. Sadly these Eagles have permanent injuries or are human imprinted and will never be released. They are used as education birds and live at the Mountsberg Raptor Centre in a conservation park in Ontario. http://www.hrca.on.ca/ShowCategory.cfm?subCatID=1455
