Congratulations Greg, your Snowshoe Hare is our Spotting of the Day:
"Snow White blends in well! This Snowshoe Hare (Lepus americanus) is our Spotting of the Day. Found in North America, the snowshoe hare is named for its feet, which are larger (and furrier) than those of other rabbits or hares. This adaptation provides additional surface area preventing the snowshoe hare from sinking when hopping into the snow. During winter snowshoe hares turn mostly white, which helps them blend in with the snow. Climate change and loss of snow cover in some their range presents a potential threat for snowshoe hares due to camouflage mismatch. Find out more here: https://buff.ly/2u10yuY "
