Description:

Black & Yellow Garden Spider, AKA Writing Spider or Corn Spider, spotted on Maxwell AFB, AL. This appears to be a female and male pair. In the second photo you can see the male spider above the female on the same web. Third photo shows detailed close-up of the male. The male appears to be about 1/4 the size of the female.

Spider mating season in Alabama?
