Field Notes

Description:

A stubby, fat fly with hair almost like spikes on it's backside. Rather friendly, too.

Habitat:

This particular one lives in North-Eastern Colombia, on the slopes of the San Lorenzo Ridge in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, above the town of Santa Marta, Colombia.

(I guess you're not completely textless after all :) Tachinid is a good start, maybe I'll do some more digging on my end. Thanks!
It looks like some kind of tachinid fly, but there are thousands of different species so that's not super helpful. Good photo!
