Field Notes

Description:

This eastern box turtle was around 5.5 to 6 inches in length and had yellow markings. Based on a slightly concave plastron, I believe this turtle was a male.

Habitat:

Found him in the pine needles near our fence and carried him to a very nearby stream where he walked into the water and swam away.

Notes:

I found him and carried him to a stream. He was sort of hissing at my hand when he saw it and moved his legs a lot as I carried him. I washed my hands afterwards.
