Description:
Scytodes fusca - a Scytodidae, Spitting Spider with stripes.
This is a female.
The body is brownish in color.
This species is not too rare as I have seen this species 3 times.
The males are lighter in colour.
Habitat:
Inside cracks and holes in dry earth, I found under the Long house No 1 of Sabah Tea Garden, Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia. First discovered in the US, it was latter found out that this species is widespread in Southeast Asia.
Notes:
This is the first time I found a Spitting Spider for myself.
The white background in 2 of the photographs is my container.
I put it inside my white container to prevent it from escaping because it is very active and won't stop after it sensed my presence.
Thus, it can't crawl up the slippery plastic surfaces of the container, but Salticidae spiders can.
