Field Notes

Description:

Has dumpy, rounded body, rather short legs and incredibly long, straight bill. Feeding method characteristic: probes vertically downwards with bill in soft mud, in manner of sewing machine. Upperparts brown, patterned with black and white lines and bards, shows dark stripes on head.

Habitat:

Winter visitor to freshwater marshes, small muddy patches, pool margins, ditches, seashores, etc, in small groups. Nest usually well concealed in vegetation. Breeds in marshes, bogs and damp meadows with short, dense vegetation.

I think colouring is more like a snipe, looking at other photos, and the way it feeds is the same. Snipe it is! Thanks for the suggestion, Steven, and thanks as well, Mick. :)
I like the Snipe or the Great Snipe due to the straight beak (The Godwit has curved) - Good series.
According to WIki The Black-tailed Godwit occurs in Portugal
Godwit maybe? I dont know about portugal but in Aust we have the Black-tailed and the bar-tailed Godwit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-tailed_Godwit The Black-tailed Godwit is the closest
