Field Notes

Description:

White, finger -like clumps ranging from 3 - 8 inches in diameter and about 4 -5 inches tall. Looks like Acropora coral.

Habitat:

Approx. 40 - 50 year old Oak/Hickory upland forest (successional from former farmland). Whole forest is very damp right now - we have had excessive rain this fall, with heavy rain for 2 days prior to the spotting.

It was all over the place on both sides of the trail.

Notes:

First time I have ever seen this fungus in the wild (was only familiar from pics)
