Description:

Slightly larger than mainland Western Scrub-Jay (A. californica), with black (not brown) cheeks, darker brown back, deeper blue upperparts, and blue (not white) undertail coverts. Western Scrub-Jay has never been recorded on Santa Cruz Island, the only location of this endemic species.
