Field Notes

Description:

Huge gray/black wasp with red abdomen except black on the tip. It had a long bright green caterpillar in its grasp that it refused to drop. It was so heavy and long that the wasp couldn't fly.

Habitat:

Ground with sticks, dirt and grass near Lake Hodges
