Description:
Female black and white bird that pecks at wood with it's strong beak and eats the insects inside. It has excellent hearing which it uses to listen to insects deep in the tree's trunk. Unfortunately California considers the Nuttall's Woodpecker as a "Species of Greatest Conservation need"
Habitat:
This pretty girl frequents this enormous Gum tree next door.
Notes:
The male (not shown) has a crimson red streak on its head resembling a mohawk.
