Field Notes

Description:

Small mushrooms with dome-shaped deep purple (almost black) caps about 8mm wide. The caps were rough and granulose. Gills were a pale grey ans was the smooth stipe.

Habitat:

These small mushrooms were growing between cracks on the bark of a live rough-barked eucalyptus tree. There were several as seen in pic #5

Notes:

Fairly tough little mushrooms. The younger ones appeared to have rougher caps.
The caps looked like tiny blue berries.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Sorry no, pouihi - spore-printing was still a very foreign concept to me at the time, not knowing much about fungi. Also, I would have had to carry the little mushroom with me all day as I did not go home until late that day. Have learnt a bit since. Do you think the spore print would have helped with an ID ? thanks for looking at this, anyway. I have so many fungi with no ID !!
