Field Notes

Description:

Small brown ground squirrel with white and black stripes on the upper body and a white underbody.

Habitat:

Woodlands, forests, and wood lots. Often prefers to take shelter in rocky areas near the trees.

Notes:

Chipmunks are always attractive, energetic little creatures. They are also extremely curious about their environment, including their near-by neighbors. With patience and slow deliberate movements many Chipmunks will allow you to come quite close to them. Sometime they will even come and visit the photographer.
