Field Notes

Description:

6 inches or so

Habitat:

spotted on shore of Indian River

Notes:

The yellow legs would lead me to believe that it's a least sandpiper but I'm not sure. I only ever see a solitary bird. And it has the habit of bobbing its tail up and down.

Thank you, William. Quite different indeed; but it seems I've seen this bird most of the year and never thought it looked different.
very likely an Actitis macularia / Spotted Sandpiper. Quite different Winter plumage than when we see them here in Breeding colors. Thank you,
