Description:
Small, stout, whitish mushroom with a silvery sheen and some tan on the top of the cap. The gills were purple.

Could be Cortinarius subgenus Sericeocybe.
Habitat:
Growing on the ground in a mixed forest with lots of oak.
Notes:
Several mushrooms in this genus are poisonous and can cause acute tubulointerstitial nephritis, which is a disease that affects the kidneys and can lead to kidney failure. In addition, some species are actually lethal. Therefore, it is suggested that none of the mushrooms from this genus be consumed especially because it can be very difficult to distinguish between species.
