Field Notes

Description:

This incredibly beautiful creature was 3 cm (1.2 inches) long. He looked almost exactly like a previous spotting, only slightly bigger: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6678128
... Could it be the same individual??

Habitat:

Hills overlooking Manila.

Notes:

I heard a loud 'whirring' outside (they're very noisy fliers!), and thought, could it be... Yes, it was! A super-gorgeous Shield Bug! :-)

Thanks again for all the comments! :-) Juan, thank you so much for your help in getting the ID a bit more accurate!
Hi Annvan, this is a Stink bug (Pentatomidae), but I don´t think is the specie Pycanum rubens, probably the genus is ok, so I recomend you keep the identification to genus.
Very nice photo, timing is perfect.
Can anyone give me a clue about what species of Shield Bug this might be? Thanks!
I appreciate seeing this creature from all the different angles.
