Description:

A legendary "white deer" of Cumberland Island. This deer is not albino. Relatives are the key factor to their existence because these white deer seem to appear in isolated herds where there is more of a chance for inbreeding. These deer are protected on the island and are apparently becoming more prevalent.

Indeed, Cumberland Island is wonderful. I went a few times as a child and supposedly, though I don't remember it, I went up to and petted a white-tailed deer. Everything on that island is so unbelievably tame... minus the wild boars and horses :)

More like a white-coated deer. ;) Cumberland Island was a great place. I was there exactly four years ago tomorrow. Nice find.
