Field Notes

Description:

Yellow and red/black female fly with clear wings. The eyes are red. The top of the thorax is burgundy/copper. The abdomen had red/black horizontal stripes that don't break in the center.

Habitat:

On a leaf of a rose in the front yard.

Notes:

This is the only pic I could get of this hoverfly. I've never seen this one before. I cropped one close for more detail.
