Field Notes

Description:

Color changing spider to mimic its environment that starts off green with clear legs that have black spots. Females don't have a bulbous pedipalp like the male does. This series shows the spider slowly changing color to match its surroundings. The last two images show it eating a Western Honeybee. The egg sac is brown with a rough surface.

Habitat:

Perez's Sea Lavender and an evergreen bush at spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7517144

Notes:

The male can be seen on my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7046584

Thank you Karen! I can't wait to see these beauties again this Spring.
Wow! Great series Cindy!
Thank you Darvesh. I've really enjoyed these spiders this summer. They don't care if you put the camera right in their face :)
