Description:
Low perennial colonies. Woody base. Flowers: dense cluster of small white/purplish flowers surrounded by 4 white petal-like bracts. Fruits bright red berry like drupes.
Habitat:
Moist woods and clearings
Notes:
The fruit can be eaten fresh as a snack. They are juicy and full of crunchy, little, poppy-like seeds. They can be cooked and used in puddings, sauces or preserves.
