Field Notes

Description:

The only way to cross Rio Negro, Cotoncito (close to La Amistad on Panama border), was crossing a fallen tree, where many of these 6 cms bugs were 'having activity', leaving small eggs on the water. They were showy but had a very bad smell

Habitat:

Premontane forest, 1400 meters high

Hi Daniel, this is not a Tiger beetle (Cicindellidae), is a Long horned beetle (Cerambycidae)
True... I did some Night trails...Need watchful and required good torch for help of focusing in darkness. Otherwise they are so quick to get hidden bushes indaylight. In darkness they look lazy..
Thank you, Nimkar !!, YES, I meant Tiger beetle but I wrote 'bug' for mistake. I had already seen those Cicindela chinensis, but those are originary from Thai - Viet - etc , and they are a little different from these ones. I made many pictures but they all were too bad because light was low and the beetle moved so fast =(

Hmmm....must be Tiger beetles.. in Asia also seen some colourful Tiger beetles.
