Spotting of the Day! "The Elegant golden jumping spider uses its colorful iridescence to attract females." http://facebook.com/projectnoah/posts/250869801633902 http://twitter.com/projectnoah/status/140207131243724801
Stunning photo of a stunning creature!
As per wiki and obviously studies by the experts, tropical areas (forests) harbor the most species of jumping spiders. This is the largest family of spiders and as far as I know, one sp. is found even on a freezing cold Himalayan cave. Australia also boasts a large number of varieties and the American species are generally robust. You can find at least something everywhwere in this world. The study on these has been really limited though in our part. It doesn't get updated regularly and refs about the ID are really hard to find.. :-(
Thanks for following me! I love these spiders of yours! This one is especially impressive!
Wow..there are so many species of this type of spider in your area! :-)
Thanks for the appreciation everyone!! It truly was one beautiful jumper. I have photographed this sp a few times before but the light wasn't that good unfortunately. This time around I got a better opportunity to take some photos with a bit better light.. :-)
