Field Notes

Description:

Brown and tan spider, leg span about an inch in diameter. He had some whitish paint on a couple of his legs and some debris stuck to one pedipalp (that's the ball of unknown stuff near his front end). He was hobbling through my kitchen on a sunny day when I left the screen door open. Anyone know what kind of spider this is?

Habitat:

In my house, but I assume he came in from outside.

Species ID Suggestions

Brown Widow

Latrodectus geometricus

What about an American House Spider. They vary in shape and color and size. Give it a try. I am new at this! COOL!
I'm not so sure it's a brown widow. The wikipedia page says they're not found all the way up in PA, and the front legs on the male seem way longer than they were on my guy.
It looks like a brown widow. Were you able to see underneath the abdomen for an orange hourglass? I have a similar spotting although mine is more juvenile: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7000553 You can see yours still has some white on the abdomen as well as the black dots.
