Species ID Suggestions

Aha! Oleander makes sense....hard to tell from looking at the leaves. I work for habitat restoration land trust so my plant ID is getting better
This could actually be Nerium leaves and if yes, they are poisonous - so handle with care. The leaves ( in your picture) seem a little too long (lanceolate) for a bay tree. Also, bay leaves have slightly wavy margins. Have a look at the flowers do they look like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:20080311_Nerium_Oleander_Flowers.jpg they come in white and various shades of pink. Here are pictures of leaves http://www.flowerspictures.org/flower-pictures/oleanders/oleander-leaf.html http://thegardenguide.typepad.com/the_garden_guide/oleander.html If these fit the picture, then your plant is a Nerium Oleander
Looks like a laural bay tree. Does it have a strong smell when rubbed? If it does it's definitely a bay tree
