Nice find! Perhaps you mean defensive, rather than aggressive? These caterpillars (like all caterpillers) are a good food source for many species. To help them avoid being eaten, many species have behaviors that may startle or trick predators (like thrashing around) and give the caterpillar a chance to escape.
