Field Notes

Description:

Spearmint plants, approximately two feet tall with spikes of small blue flowers and aromatic leaves.

Habitat:

A small container garden located on the balcony of my exurban apartment.

Notes:

The spearmint plants in my garden were transplanted last fall from the Children’s Garden at Hollin Meadows Science and Math Focus School. One year later, I'm happy to report the transplants are alive and thriving! Related Resource: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6746084

I added a new photo to this spotting on 18 October 2011. See Photo 1 (of 4).
You seem to have a good eye for color, Alice! Speaking of color, can you help me identify some unknown yellow flowers? I photographed a Common Buckeye butterfly recently ... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7504219 ... feeding on some unknown yellow flowers ... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7505889 ... that a friend thinks may be a species of Marigold. What do you think, Alice?
