Description:

Imported to the pacific nw by scottish farmers who used it as livestock fencing, this plant is mentioned in AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh books as being thorny, which is an understatement

Habitat:

coastal rainforest - especially Bandon Oregon where the conditions are ideal for rampant growth with no native controls. It rarely occurs in the immediate surrounding areas, although a few large dense patches occur south of bandon and langlois
