It's a complete falsehood. They do indeed contain venom like most Arachnida however they primarily consume other invertebrates such as mites or already decomposing material. The stories about how they lack mouthparts large enough to harm humans is correct, however, the venom of any harvestman has never been identified as toxic to humans in any way.

in this area they are completely harmless to most because there fangs are not big enough to break skin....but they are known to have very poisonous venom....
That oughta be a myth - as for European harvestmen they are completely harmless (for humans). Can't tell 100% for American species though. But as far as I know it's the same.

Actually not a spider. It is an arachnid however, some species of harvestmen.
