Dromedary
Camelus dromedarius
30.0763, 31.2089
Field Notes
Description:
The dromedary or Arabian camel (Camelus dromedarius) is a large even-toed ungulate with one hump on its back.
Habitat:
This one is a domestic one, used to carry around tourists at the pyramids near Cairo.
Notes:
It is one of the lucky few that had time to rest and get food beetween its work. Because of the riots, that started a few weeks after my parents were in Cairo, many of them starved as a result of the absence of tourists and their owners not able (or perhaps willing) to pay food for the now useless animals.
