Field Notes
Description:
Caterpillars are the larval form of a member of the order Lepidoptera (the insect order comprising butterflies and moths). They are mostly herbivorous in food habit, with some species being insectivorous. Caterpillars are voracious feeders and many of them are considered to be pests in agriculture. Many moth species are better known in their caterpillar stages because of the damage they cause to fruits and other agricultural produce.
---The etymological origins of the word are from the early 16th century, from Middle English catirpel, catirpeller, probably an alteration of Old North French catepelose: cate, cat (from Latin cattus) + pelose, hairy (from Latin pilōsus).
Habitat:
west-europa--> nederland(limburg)-german border nrw _ autum--> aftersummer is already 1 week gone, now somewhat moist, getting colder _ old mix forest.--> many logs, lot of/many autum-leaves. --- but now here, i suspect it's a common west-european (common in germany) caterpillar, because it looks so familiar.
Notes:
when i took this pictures for my previous uploaded spotting, i did not saw the caterpillar. Here at home and also just 30 min ago, while i was choosing the best pictures, i saw him the first time. So therefore, i can't give you much informations
