Field Notes

Notes:

It is rare that those that love to eat the Cashew get to see the fruit as well. The fruit is delicious to eat or juice.

No me gusta mucho el sabor de la fruta pero la semilla es demasiado rica, ya me antoje
I would love to know how to make that wine. The Cashew's and the fruits are just beginning to grow and in a short time they will be everywhere.
We use them to prepare Cashew wine which is so yummy!
@ bayucca, Macadamia can be the Ace! Thanks to all for the great contributions for this "Seed Bank!" The lotus seed is one of my favorites. It is Bland and yet tasty, contradictory as they sound! @ Lars,Check the Devils Claw Seed Pod out and let me know how spooked out or spookified you are!
And yes macadamia is also nice ;)
Thank you, today I learnt something new :)
Hey! Do not forget the Macadamia!!
Ok Lars; spill the beans; what is the king then? :)
thanks for that picture - now I finally have an idea what the plant and fruit looks like...I love cashews - the Queen of all nuts :)
Great info bayucca...luckily we are just a month away from cashew fruit season!!
Cashew is really a very interesting fruit (not a nut). To my knowledge it is the only fruit on the world where the seed is actually out side the fruit! Many animals eat the fruit and do not touch the seed, so a elegant possibility to spread the seeds. And the Cardol oil is often used as brake linings (I am not kidding!)... http://www.flickr.com/photos/dominikhofer/5619629800
Thnx. Maybe one day we will have a chance to taste the fruit!! The color is vibrant.
Emma, you can clearly see the see below which is in the shape of the cashew you have come to love and eat your whole life. The fruit is above the greyish seed.
Costa, can you clarify which is the seed?
You couldn't have said it better asergio DE-LI-CI-OUS! Emma I am on my way to adding it to the mission!
Emma, the taste of cashew fruit is almost, but not exactly, completely different of any other fruit. It is de-li-ci-ous!!!
This would be an excellent addition to the Seed and Seed Pods mission. Please consider joining!! http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8362643
I haven't eaten jack fruit but the cashew fruit is sweet, taste in the direction of a grape but not the same, stringy soft flesh, and a bit chalky.
I have eaten raw cashews and cashew nuts. Really delicious. Have not tasted the fruit. Reminds me of jack-fruit. is the flavor similar? jack-fruit is simply delicious.
