Apheloria millipede
Apheloria virginiensis
40.6667, -77.9096
Field Notes
Description:
Millipede approx. 3 cm long found clinging to the trunk of a tree. Looked a little stretched, with the white between the sclerites showing. When poked it fell off, apparently dead and eaten from beneath. Anyone know what kind of millipede this is, or have any ideas why it might have died clinging to a tree like this?
Habitat:
Mixed hardwood forest (oaks, elms, sassafras, liriodendron, etc.)
