Description:

Small bird of the heron family. Very common. Shot during a frequent preening session.

Habitat:

Found near ponds and marshes.

Thank you Marta. I don't think it is a worm. Preening is mainly done to rearrange the feathers to their optimum shape and also to sread oil from a special gland at the base of their tail to all feathers so as to make them more waterproof. Birds also remove accumulated dirt and parasites like lice during preening. Glad that you like my attempt at shooting a video 😊
