Field Notes

Description:

Conifer with sharp scale leaves and a small cone.

Habitat:

Likely planted in this garden on a hill not far from the sea; temperate coastal rainforest that tends to be warmer than the central/north coast.

Notes:

The second picture is of a dead twig found on the ground. This tree would likely be no more than 50 years old, given when the garden was first planted.
It resembles the Giant Sequoiah, but the cone seems too small and round to be that.
