Description:

So, here is where things get a little messy. This beetle is just like one I spotted before (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/56286014) but with different colors. Color morph? Sexual dimorphism? Different species/subspecies? Questions, questions...

Long-jointed Darkling beetle

Lagriinae gen. sp.

Note the inflated middle tibiae of both - smells a male sexual character . . . Pronotum dark vs. red is not an unusual variation in species. Both may be one species, alongwith: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1004576009
