Description:

very similar to partridge pea; seed pod bright and fuzzy, 1 1/4 inches long; flowers about 3/8 inch

Habitat:

spotted on edge of brush in county park

Thanks, floridagirl; the plant profile fit just right.
I'm wondering if this is Sensitive Partridge Pea (as suggested above), which is closely related to "regular" Partridge Pea (C. fasciculata). I found it in my Wildflowers of Florida Field Guide (Daniels/Tekiela). This is definitely just a suggestion, though.
