Description:
It's a Longhorn Beetle - Cerambycidae.
Lamiinae maybe.
It's body length is approximately 50mm.
It's antennas are very long and thick, a common trait of Longhorn beetles of having the longest antennae in the beetle order.
Most of the Longhorn Beetles don't antennas as thick as this species.
The length from one end of an antenna to another antenna's end are more than twice it's body length.
The beetles thorax is rough.
It's black eyes are modified such a way that it's antennas are in the middle of their eyes.
It's head is armed with a pair of strong mandibles.
The brownish patterns of the beetle's fore wings resemble the traditional native Iban shield's patterns http://www.primitivetribalart.com/Images/B196Shield.jpg , well, almost.
Habitat:
I found it in Seri Kinabalu Resort, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.
Notes:
During our dinner in the open restaurant of Aristo Resort Kinabalu Resort, we were greeted with thousands of nocturnal flying insects that are attracted to the lights.
This Longhorn Beetle is one of the larger nocturnal insect.
I've tried measuring it's antennae with my fingers, the length of one end of an antenna to another antenna is as long as from my thumb to the tip of my index finger.
