Field Notes

Description:

Honey colored concave top mushroom about 1/2 diameter each.

Notes:

Hundreds of these are growing along the edge of our woods. They are similar in color & form to the honey mushroom colony I have been photographing recently http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7522042 but considerably smaller & growing individually instead of in a colony so I don't know if these are the same species.

Thanks Alex! I will go out & take some shots of the underside when it stops raining. I'm very risk averse so I won't be eating anything unless I am certain it's safe! I have ordered a North American mushrooms field guide at Brandon Blount's suggestion so I can start familiarizing myself a bit more before any culinary experiments!
i would not eat them, without seeing the underside i will "gamble" this one has different gills and stem! smell them if this one smells different as the honey mushroom! i will try to get an propper suggestion. but do you have pictures from the gills;stem;whole mushroom from the side ? my first big gamble is : entoloma or inocybe
