An abandoned Green Lynx Spider egg sac was discovered by ants!

No. I guess my use of the word "abandoned" is wrong. The flower bunch was dead and the gardener cut it off the plant. When I saw it on the ground later that day, I picked it up and only the egg sac was there. I placed it on the plant in hopes the mom crawled back to the plant but apparently didn't.
It is kind of sad, Usually the female guards the egg sac & the spiderlings when they hatch. Was she still around?
