Add to the mission European butterflies and moths. Thanks for the information bayucca
Please, join the new mission of European butterflies and moths and post all your corresponding spottings. We need a lot of people which would join the group to make it global! Thanks and best regards from Switzerland! http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8574613
You're welcome Palaimon. If you're happy with the last suggestion by KarenL and myself you can update your spotting by clicking on Edit this spotting and change the common name and scientific name. The German common name is welcome if you can find it!
Thanks for your work!!! Thats really amazing!!
:-) Karen! To complete the picture there is another similar ringlet flying in this area, the Piedmont ringlet, but the match is not as good as with de Prunner's Ringlet...
Great minds think alike, Daniele!
Karen we were writing at the same time with the same suggestion ;-)
Hi Palaimon! The point I was making is that your butterfly seems to be missing the checkered fringes which are found on Erebia euryale. This one could be a fit: http://www.eurobutterflies.com/species_pages/triaria.htm There are a lot of butterflies in the genus Erebia flying in the Alps, and they can be tricky to identify without direct observation.
The only other ringlet I can find that seems to match the ring pattern is de Prunner's Ringlet - Erebia triaria http://www.eurobutterflies.com/species_pages/triaria.htm
I think this one fits!!! Erebia euryale Thank you KarenL and DanielePralong!
Beautiful! The large ringlet is supposed to have checkered fringes though? http://www.eurobutterflies.com/species_pages/euryale.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erebia_euryale There are more in the genus Erebia thay may fit; I will look later but anybody feel free to follow up on my comment.
