Description:

The males mostly lead solitary lives and are rarely seen associating with each other, except on some occassions during the rutting season. The sambar has extremely sharp senses of hearing and smell.

I saw these guys on an Island of Indonesia, I local man, had a few in his grounds, i am not sure if they where pets or used for other things. Daniele, this deer had just been eating some plants and one of the stems got caught in his antlers, the poor guy must have been very frustrated.
Could you please add to your notes where you saw this exactly? Thanks.
What's the story with the second animal Sean? Is it a piece of string or vegetation?
