Field Notes

Description:

brown skink with long silvery-white tail that become more cream-grey as they age

Habitat:

crub undergrowth, either under rocks or rotting trees this was behind my house after a few days of heavy rain

Notes:

Though very elusive and usually skittish this encounter was interesting because as soon as it saw me it tucked its forelimbs into its side and seemed to be mimicking a snake (I always considered them halfway between a snake and lizard)

o i thought it was a street name u were describing there is a similar name on another island but yes hurricanes do past irene hit us in summer but very little damage and for some reason hurricanes usually turn just before they hit us but once in a while we get a direct hit

it appears on weather maps as a place where many hurricanes come thru... i apologize if that's incorrect.
